Review

Post Hardcore/Stoner Punks L.M.I return with their second full length album – Far Beyond Nothing. The album isn't the best produced album I've heard this year. The overall sound can be slightly messy and disjointed at times but that adds to the overall effect of L.M.I's music. I've been a fan of the band for the last couple of years and they never disappoint with the past records they've released.

The band play a blend of Post-Hardcore, Punk, Thrash and Stoner Rock. Opening track – Coffin Niche – is a catchy and furiously heavy song that packs quite a punch with fast-paced riffs and socially aware lyrics. I can hear influences diverse as At The Drive-In and other seminal hardcore punk bands. Though L.M.I. Distract this balance by adding a meaty Stoner Rock/Metal sound.

Second track – Destined For The Ground – carries on the frenzied punk attack with the riffs becoming faster and L.M.I. displaying a more manic energy. The guitar work is what holds your attention with moments of jazzy interludes that show you there is something more to the bands music.

Most of the songs run for about 2 to 3 minutes in length. There are not many songs with epic progressive style riffs and that's not L.M.I's style. They play fast and loose with the music that they create. The album only runs for 26 minutes in length and it's blistering and emotionally exhausting album to listen to at times. This album is perhaps more hardcore punk rock orientated than their debut album but the Stoner/Noise Rock sounds are there waiting to be heard or discovered depending on your mood of the album.

Other great songs to check out are: Emerald Emotions, Salamander, Sun Rites and Collapsing Pages. All these songs are perhaps where L.M.I. Show their greatest strengths in creating action packed Stoner/Hardcore Punk grooves.

If you ever wondered what At The Drive-In would sound like if they entered the world of Stoner Rock then is the closest you're ever going to get. Far Beyond Nothing is another winning record for L.M.I. and it's one that will entertain the hell out of their established fanbase.
